Requirements
- A JK inverter BMS (the series with RJ45 RS485 / CAN sockets).
- A free RS485 socket on the board, or on the last board of a parallel chain.
- USB power and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi near the battery.
1. RS485, not CAN
JK inverter boards have RJ45 sockets for RS485 and for CAN. Your inverter is usually on CAN, or on one RS485 socket. Plug the box into a free RS485 socket. If your inverter is already on RS485 and there is no free socket, contact us with a photo first.
2. Board address
Each board has an address set with DIP switches or in the app. Note them. In the box settings you list the addresses to read.
3. Connect and power
Use the supplied RJ45 cable between the board and the box. Plug the box into USB-C power. The screen lights up.
Data cable only. Never connect the box to the balance leads or the pack terminals.
4. Wi-Fi setup
Join the box’s temporary Wi-Fi network from your phone, choose your home network, set a dashboard password.
5. Check the cells
Open http://moniwatt.local. Your cells appear in a few seconds. Compare one or two cell voltages with the JK app: they should match to within a few millivolts.
Common hiccups
- No data: wrong socket (CAN instead of RS485) or address mismatch.
- Values jump between two packs: two boards share the same address; give each one its own.
- Inverter loses communication: your inverter shares the RS485 line; unplug the box and tell us the inverter model.
